Fossil Free Pride is a grassroots collective formed in 2020 with the aim of breaking the links between queer culture and the fossil fuel industry. Since then it has won victories at nearly 30 Prides across the UK, as well as at high-profile events like the British LGBT Awards. Through a mix of creative action, tireless negotiation and targetted boycotts, Fossil Free Pride brings a uniquely queer flavour to the climate movement, providing a natural home for LGBTQIA+ climate organisers.

Culture Unstained are providing an organisational home to Fossil Free Pride, hosting a staff member and providing operational support to the work due to the affinity between the campaign and Culture Unstained’s goal of breaking ties between the fossil fuel industry and cultural institutions.

With the escalating climate crisis disproportionately impacting LGBTQIA+ communities across the globe, Fossil Free Pride have stepped into a vital space: demanding that queer institutions adopt a position of international solidarity and refuse to partner with climate wreckers and the big banks financing them. The climate crisis is a queer issue, and if we have no pride in fossil fuels, there can be no fossil fuels in Pride.
